Alternatives to Brushing Your Teeth

Stay with me on this one!


When I learned that not a lot of people actually brush their teeth with toothpaste and a toothbrush (we will stay away from the conspiracy theories) ha! But when I learned about this it got me thinking. Are there truly alternatives to the basic brush and paste?


When I went through my health coaching training one of the things I learned that fascinated me was that breathe is not supposed to smell bad. 


If your breath smells bad it means either you are severely dehydrated or the foods you eat are rotting away inside (yuck). Also, did you know you are not supposed to have poop on your tp when you wipe after dropping that heavy load? Freaking crazy right hahaha! Ok we will save that for another time.


Back to the teeth! Eating apples or carrots are a great healthy alternative to brushing teeth and here are some more:


  • Brushing your tongue over the front and back of your teeth will help clean them (ever wonder why it has ridges?)
  • Taking baking soda on your finger and rubbing it around on your teeth
  • Chewing sugar free gum
  • Staying away from sugar and acidic foods will keep teeth clean
  • Swishing with water
  • Swishing with a mouth rinse
  • Simply flossing
  • Coconut oil pulling (So many benefits to this one like killing bacteria like Streptococcus Mutans and bad breath cure) Click here for a good "How to" article 

Overall, tell me if you are brave enough to try alternative methods to take a break from the old brush and paste (which let's be honest you probably haven't changed your toothbrush since you left for college) ha!
